Easter Seals Veteran's Count Club

We welcome to Northeast Delta Dental Radio, Major General Kenneth Clark, Chair of the Development Committee for the Easter Seals New Hampshire Veterans Count Club. Ken will share with us the history of how Veterans Count Club came into existence, and how the NH National Guard, Department of Health and Human Services, and Easter Seals collaborate to make the program a success. You will learn what makes this program unique, examples of some types of help provided to veterans, as well as what needs deploying service members/families have, and what are the unique challenges that Guard/Reserve members/families face. Their mission is "to provide critical and timely funds and services to veterans and their families, that are not being met by other sources, to ensure their dignity, health and overall well being."  

The Canterbury Shaker Village

Just about 25 minutes away, nestled in the country side of Canterbury is a unique little village just waiting for you to come and visit - the Canterbury Shaker Village. Please join us on this podcast as Funi Burdick, Executive Director of the village shares with our radio audience about some of the history, her vision for the village as well as outlining a few of the 2012 season events. A few of the upcoming events are Days of Peace and Harmony running May 16-20 with the Drepung Monks, Traditional Arts Weekend on June 2, Garden Gathering on August 1, Canterbury Artisan Festival on September 15, and Christmas at Canterbury on December 8 and 15. Granite State Children's Alliance

Please join Tom Raffio and Kristie Palestino, Executive Director of Granite State Children's Alliance on this weekend's broadcast. Kristie will share with us about the history and mission of Granite State Children's Alliance and its Advocacy Centers. Children that have been abused are able to receive counsel and services from the Granite State Children's Alliance. The Friends of Bridges House on Northeast Delta Dental Radio

Our special guest on this edition of Northeast Delta Dental Radio is Dr. Susan Lynch. Dr. Lynch will be sharing with us about the The Bridges House and the restoration campaign for restoring New Hampshire's executive residence.

The Bridges House, built in 1835, located in East Concord, is listed both on the New Hampshire and the National Register of Historic Places. While our state's first families generally have not resided at the Bridges House, it serves as the setting for many official state functions held by the governor and is an extension of that office. Conferences are held here with legislators, civic and business leaders, and visiting dignitaries from the nation and around the world. The public is welcomed to the house for events such as holiday events, concerts, tours, and non-profit community groups use the property for meetings and events.

Oral Health and You

On this edition of Northeast Delta Dental Radio, our program is Oral Health and You featuring Jean McPheters, RDH, as our special guest. Jean will share with us about why it is important to have a Dental Home and what it means, what is involved in Collaborative Care, who can benefit from sealants and when, and why the first dental visit for a child should be by age one. Health, Nutrition, and Wellness

We continue our wellness series with this weekend's program on Health, Nutrition, and Wellness. Please join us as our guest, Traci Komorek from the Center for Health Promotion at Concord Hospital shares with us important tips on health and nutrition. Do you enjoy a good breakfast before you head off to work or play? If your answer is 'no', you will especially want to tune in as we will share with you some important reasons for having a good breakfast and how it will improve your day. Also, as part of our conversation, we will share about fruits and vegetables, whole grains, the good and bad fats, sugar, and other useful and helpful information.    

Running and Wellness

March came in with a snow storm that made skiers happy and is heading out with summer time temperatures that are making runners very happy.  With these warmer days, folks are thinking about running and so are we on Northeast Delta Dental Radio.  Our program this weekend is Running and Wellness and features Perry Seagroves as our guest.  Perry will share about the history of running here in New Hampshire and in particular the Capital Area Race Series (CARS), which begins next weekend with the first race, the 13th Gilmanton 5K Road Race.  Join us for a fun show and see you at the next race!
