Calling all golfers! The 18th Annual Dr. Thurston J. Carpenter Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Ledges Golf Club in York, Maine. Joe Kasper joins Tom Raffio on this weekend's broadcast to share about the tournament, its history, and purpose. The tournament is a fund-raiser for the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation and all net proceeds will be used to fund oral health programs in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont and to fund Northeast Delta Dental's own program, Prevent Abuse and Neglect through Dental Awareness (P.A.N.D.A.). It is ‘Back to School’ time and our program this weekend has an educational theme as we present “STEM Programs and ‘Math Phobia’”. Our guests for this show are Susan Dunton, President of New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI), and Valerie LaVoice, Mathematics Department Head at NHTI. The conversation will center around NHTI classes that emphasize a strong foundation in math, the Math Lab in the Learning Center, tutoring services that are available for all levels of math from the basics, to College Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, and advanced Physics. We will also share briefly about some of the upcoming events at NHTI that include the start of the fall semester, the Investiture of Susan B.
