The mission of the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is "to educate, incite and entertain learners of all ages in the sciences and humanities by actively engaging them in the exploration of astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science." Our guest, Jeane Gerulskis will share with us 'What's up at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center?' We will first look back at 2015 for a short discussion on the challenges and accomplishments as well as a recap of the year's events and exhibits.
Looking ahead to 2016, it is going to be a busy and exciting year with STEM camps taking place in the summer vacation period, Aerospace Festival, Reach for the Stars Campaign, We All Share the Same Sky project, as well as several new planetarium shows in the making. The 2015 Granite State Baseball Dinner presented by Northeast Delta Dental is the feature of this weekend’s broadcast and we are joined by Tom Gauthier of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to share all the exciting things taking place at the dinner. The dinner is a fundraising event with proceeds benefiting CHaD, Ted Williams Museum, and the Fisher Cats Foundation. In 2014, more than 1,000 individuals raised around $140,000 and since 2007, more than $1.28 million has been raised through the dinner. Guests will not only enjoy a delicious meal, they will also be able to meet special guests, collect autographs, enjoy special presentations, and participate in a silent and real auction. The Frank Donovan Memorial 5K Road Race and Kid’s Fun Run is coming on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Northeast Delta Dental in Concord. Joe Kasper joins us on our program this weekend to provide an update on the race and to share about the life of Frank Donovan. All proceeds from this race will be used to fund oral health programs in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont and to fund Northeast Delta Dental’s own program, Prevent Abuse and Neglect through Dental Awareness (P.A.N.D.A.).
